Congratulations! You tied the knot!
Your reception went off without a hitch (at least no slip ups that anyone would notice), you looked fabulous, everyone ate and danced the night away, and your groom carried you over the threshold into your honeymoon suite after the partying was over. And now that the honeymoon is over, you think the wedding planning is too.
Not so fast! There are still some wedding related things that you need to take care of before you call it a day.
- Want to shout out your big news to everyone? Then, send your announcement and wedding photo to your local newspapers. Most papers will even lety ou submit your info online. Some publications do charge to run your annoucement so check the details carefully.
- Meet with your photographer and videographer to review the prints for you album and finalize the video.
- Have your gown preserved.
- Preserve your bouquet (make sure you look into how long you have to do this before it's too late)
- If you are going to change your name, this is the time to do it. Once it’s done, make sure you update your driver's license, bank accounts, credit cards, social security card, passport, insurance info, job-related paperwork (such as payroll), any bills you receive (utilities, gym memberships, magazine subscriptions, etc.
- Pay any outstanding wedding bills.
- Update the beneficiary information for you and your groom's 401Ks and any retirement funds.
- Look into registry completion options for items you didn't receive
- And last but not least - in fact, what I believe is the most important of all, log all your gifts (so you can always look back and see who gave you the tacky vase), and write and send thank you notes. I am not sure who said you have a year to do this - it was probably the same person who said you have a year to send a wedding gift, but honestly, don't wait. The longer you wait, you risk the chance of just forgetting all about it and it will show a tremendous amount of disrespect toward the gift-givers. So, don’t forget to send those thank yous!

Great info! I didn't think I'd want to preserve my bouquet, but in the end, I did. The timing didn't work out and it was too late by then, unfortunately.
Perfect, makes it so easy to be organized!
