Out-of-State Couples

If you are an out of state couple who desires an outdoor wedding in NJ, take note! Make certain your 'alternate location in the event of rain' is in the same municipality where the hoped for beach or outdoor location is or your ceremony will be declared null and void. It may surprise you to know that locations across the street from one another can be in different municipalities, and even restaurants and inns may straddle two municipalities within their own walls. Make sure you have verified this at the time of applying for your marriage license or you will be headed for heartache and headaches.

This is not an issue with NJ couples however, who may marry anywhere within the state as result of a change of plans.
