Tip From The Pros

Non-traditional Wedding Party Line-up

Are you dealing with the issue of the groom only having maybe 2 groomsmen they really want, but the bride having 4+ bridesmaids?
It's okay!

If the plan is to have the groomsmen join the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle, there are a couple things you can do with an uneven party. The maid of honor can walk down the aisle alone. This shows that she is special. And the groomsmen can have a gal on each arm.

Once at the alter, divide up the bridesmaids and put some with the groomsmen on the other side. There's no law that says girls can't stand with the groom! Chances are, a few of the bridesmaids are probably very close with the groom too, so they'd be honored to stand at his side with the groomsmen.

A wedding is the most important day of any person's life and they should have whoever they want standing next to them, whether that be two people or six. Don't compromise just to be traditional and keep things "even".

Guest Writter ~ Renee Ferguson

It’s great to see that the old glitz and glamour of an engagement is becoming obsolete and the sentimental proposal is taking its place.

The best proposals have now become the ones that are exclusively special to the person being proposed to. Using something that will spark a memory, moment in time, or a date that was special and time well spent together seems to be a popular trend among proposals. [Read More....]

Inspiration Friday !

Boughs of holly, believed to have magical powers since they remained green through the harsh winter, were often placed over the doors of homes to drive evil away. Greenery was also brought indoors to freshen the air and brighten the mood during the long, dreary winter.

Tip From The Pros

Proposal
Recently engaged? Whatever you do, DONT...

Don't start asking everyone you love, like and miss to be in your bridal party! Ride the "engagement wave" and enjoy it while it lasts. Once the high subsides a bit and you both can think with clear(er) heads, then consider who you'd like at the front line besides you both, supporting you throughout the journey.

The New Jersey Chapter of Wish Upon A Wedding will celebrate its official launch with a swanky cocktail party on January 18, 2011 at The Estate at Florentine Gardens in River Vale from 6:30PM to 9:30PM.

The lavish and newly renovated Estate at Florentine Gardens, located at 97 Rivervale Rd in River Vale, NJ, will host the organization's posh event featuring cocktails, music, entertainment and even a few fun surprises. To help make this a truly spectacular event, New Jersey wedding and event professionals & vendors will be donating their time, products & services. Guests who wish to make a donation will receive swag bags filled with incredible discounts, samples & goodies.

Wish Upon a Wedding is the world's first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Officially launched in January of 2010, Wish Upon a Wedding currently has over 16 active chapters to serve Wish Applicants and will have granted 12 wishes by the end of 2010. The WUW NJ board members hope to raise awareness and invite other New Jersey wedding specialists to get involved.

The chapter is asking for a suggested donation of $20 per person at the party. Donations will go directly towards helping to grant wishes to deserving couples.

How would you like to add a touch more magic to your magical day? In the UK there has been a rising trend of booking close up magicians to perform magic during different periods of the wedding day. In the last 10 years this has grown in popularity to where now “wedding magicians” are a common sight at many weddings across the UK and Europe and I’m sure this trend will be coming to the US and other parts of the world in the future.

Inspiration Friday !

Its little surprise that snowflakes are symbolic of the winter season and the cold. Because no two of these lovely ice crystals are the same, they also represent individuality, and their perfect geometric forms represent perfection.  When it begins to snow, an atmosphere of silence also falls on the earth.
You could even suggest a snowflake symbolizes serenity, peace and tranquility. The clear glassy and clean formation of such little phenomina also symbolzize purity.

Tip From The Pros

Color Matching

When planning your wedding color scheme, go to the paint store or home improvement store paint department and find paint chips in your exact colors and coordinating colors. Put them in your wedding planning file so you'll have them when shopping or meeting with vendors. No doubts when trying to match linens, florals, accessories etc.

Tip From The Pros

iPod Wedding: Money-Saver or Huge Disaster?

It's true that DIYing your wedding music can save money, but at what cost?

If you're thinking about an iPod wedding, you need to (a) designate someone to run the music (b) set up multiple playlists for specific parts of the day and (c) do a test run so you're absolutely positive it's all going to work.

Your decision should be based on how tech-savvy you are or how much you trust the tech-savviness of whoever will be running your music. Are you willing to risk not having any music while you walk down the aisle? Do you have a backup plan in case your iPod dies during your dance? These are real risks that you need to be prepared for.

On the other hand, a DJ or band is a live person who can handle any issues and respond real time to you, your crowd, etc. Plus, because you're paying someone, it means that you're not obligating a friend to work during your wedding. Not a bad thing.

In the end, it will come down to budget and your willingness to prepare. Don't assume that just setting up your iPod and allowing people to choose their fav songs will work. That's a recipe for disaster. However, if you're prepared (and I mean really, really prepared), iPod weddings can be a great way to save money.
